What is the cause of turbocharger surge? How to prevent turbocharger surge?
Surge is one of the common faults of turbocharger, which is characterized by violent fluctuation of air flow in the compressor, accompanied by loud noise. The airflow is in the form of periodic and strong pulses, that is, the sharp changes in the pressure, velocity and flow rate of the airflow. When the turbocharger surges, the working state of the main engine decreases and the rotational speed decreases automatically. When the surge zone cannot be crossed, the main engine can only reduce the power.
What is the cause of turbocharger surge?
The principle of surge caused by turbocharger is complicated. When the compressor is in the working state of low flow rate and high back pressure, there will be an angle of attack between the air flow entering the compressor and the inlet of the compressor blade. When this angle is large to a certain extent, there will be a serious air separation between the inlet flow and the compressor blade, and this separation will also be formed at the diffuser blade. The following is a detailed analysis of the causes of surge:
1. Supercharger oil seal aging or damage, resulting in turbocharger oil leakage.
2. Poor lubrication if the internal lubrication of the turbocharger is poor, it is easy to cause friction, wear and oil leakage. In this case, the worn parts need to be refilled or replaced.
3. If the turbocharger is damaged, the damaged parts will definitely leak oil. In this case, the supercharger should be replaced directly.
How to prevent turbocharger surge?
Regularly check whether the turbocharger parts are contaminated, if there is pollution need to be cleaned to prevent turbocharger surge.
