01. Insufficient or too dirty oil
The speed of the turbocharger in operation is usually as high as hundreds of thousands of revolutions per minute. Such a high speed, whether using a floating bearing or a ball bearing, requires very high lubrication, and it is the oil from the engine that provides lubrication for the supercharger. At the same time, the oil will also play a role in cleaning and cooling. It is not difficult to imagine that once the oil cannot provide good lubrication, the damage of the supercharger will be inevitable.
Insufficient or dirty oil is the main cause of poor oil lubrication, and long-term lack of maintenance, use of poor quality oil or oil filters, etc. can cause this problem.
02. Foreign matter enters the turbocharger
If foreign objects enter the impeller housing, it may damage the seals, bearings and impeller of the turbocharger. The foreign matter entering the impeller housing usually comes from the air filter. Common problems such as damage to the intake hose causing debris to fall or inhaling foreign matter, incorrect installation of the intake hose and insufficient cleaning of related parts during maintenance will also Introduce foreign objects into the impeller housing. In addition, the use of poor quality air filter elements or filter failure can also lead to the entry of foreign matter, and even small particles can cause wear of the supercharger bearings.
Today's turbocharger technology is very mature, so the probability of early failure is very small, but some improper car maintenance methods may still cause turbocharger problems in advance. In order to ensure the service life of the turbocharger, we must first provide reasonable maintenance for the vehicle, and also ensure that genuine parts are used.
